Application Scenarios and Selection Principles for Explosion-Proof Motors

Three-step selection process: ① Identify the hazardous area (Zone 0/1/2, or Dust Zones 20/21/22); ② Determine the gas group (IIA/IIB/IIC) and the dust type, as well as the ignition temperature; ③ Match the explosion-proof type and equipment protection level (EPL: Ga/Gb/Gc, Da/Db/Dc).

Key Structures and Design Highlights
Enclosure protection rating of IP54 or higher, with a double-sealed junction box and explosion-proof cable entry device;
Labyrinth seals combined with sealing rings are used at the bearing and shaft penetration points to prevent media ingress.
Windings are insulated to Class F/H and impregnated with vacuum pressure impregnation (VPI); temperature monitoring is provided via PT100 sensors.
The mixing of non-explosion-proof components (such as standard fans and terminal blocks) is strictly prohibited.
A certificate of compliance issued by a national explosion-proof testing agency must be obtained, and the nameplate must clearly display the explosion-proof marking and the relevant standard number.
Application Scenarios and Selection Principles
Core applications: underground coal mining, oil and gas extraction/refining, chemical reaction vessels, pharmaceutical intermediates, grain storage, and metallurgical powder handling.
